Under the Arm
  1. Rinsing the underarm area with cool water for 15 seconds will dilute the stain-causing salts and acids.

  2. Soak the garment in a blend of ½ vinegar and ½ water, or freely spray the stain with the blend

For whites you can also us a blend of ½ hydrogen peroxide and ½ water. If you use hydrogen peroxide, wear latex or vinyl gloves to protect your hands.

  1. Let the blend soak the fabric for at least 10 minutes

  2. Machine wash as normal according to care instructions.

If care instructions will allow you to wash in hot water, the stain should be even more effectively dissolved.

But not the Ketchup Stain

  3. Repeat Step 2 until the stain disappears or significantly fades

Ketchup stains tend to sink deeply into the fabric.

  1. Remove any lingering staining by washing the garment according to the care instructions.

Too Oily for Me

  5. Air dry before rewashing

  6. If portions of the stain remain, repeat Steps 1-5
